Six Parker Chairs....Done!

I've finished!! Yay!!! Here they are, sorry about the pics, it was the best I could do at the time :)

That's only 5 you say? Do you know how hard it is to get 6 chairs in a shot that looks reasonable without having to drag the extremely heavy table from the shed to sit them around? Yeah, you probably do, especially  if you're a blogger too!!

Today was one of those days where I just couldn't do hard, so...

See? Best I could do. And the backs I did the same striped fabric.....except for 2. Thats where I did this...

And the other different one has just one white stripe. Not a GT-stripe in case you where wondering, but I did hand paint them!

Oh, and can you guess what these are?

Want them? Maybe I could come up with an idea to repurpose old upholstery staples?!!

'Aint Love Grand?!

A couple of pretty happy dogs right there!!

Love is all we need, right?!! Well that and some old furniture to do up!! But more on that later!!

Heirloom Half Table

Hi there!! Hope you're having a lovely day so far!!

Just thought I'd show you this little half table that's been in the family for a long time that I painted a while ago. It was my first ever attempt at distressing and waxing over paint!
I don't have a before photo but it had been painted white and then an ugly brown color to make it look like it hadn't actually been painted, when really someone was just too lazy to strip it back!! Yep, that'd be someone I'm related to!!!

So here it is:

And a little close up, (I was experimenting with my camera!!)

I really enjoyed painting this one as I learnt a lot. I'm not sure where to put it now though, it currently resides in our guest bedroom. It's a little too frenchy/romantic/olde world for my current taste! I do like it, I just need to work out how to style it a bit more contemporary! BTW the jug and dish are also family heirlooms!

What do you think? How could I style it differently to look more current (without re-painting it) I'd really love to hear what you think so please, comment away!!

Sneak Peek Inside...

Come on in!!
This is what you see when you first walk in to our place...my Christmas present to myself! (I got it back in May!!)
I bought this huge dresser brand new, as is.
I didn't build it, paint it or distress it.
It was all done already. And I don't mind at all! I think I'm worth a splurge like this every now and then! And luckily for me, so does Tony!! So we're not always DIYers, despite all evidence to the contrary!

I stood on the dining table to take this photo...

I've had so much fun putting all the things I love on display.

The little cane suitcase in the middle with the broken handle was my great-grandmothers art case that I inherited. Pretty special!!

Parker Loves Stripes!

I was lucky enough to pick up six of these beautiful parker chairs off ebay recently.
After much debate, I finally decided on a look for them! I think the result is modern, fresh and still respects the beautiful workmanship that comes from Parker Furniture.

I didn't consider painting these, I'm liking the look of natural timber at the moment on upholstered pieces so the fabric can take centre stage. Plus the fact they're Parker, I couldn't paint them!

For those who don't know, Parker is an iconic furniture company that's been popular here since the 60's.

These have such a nice shape and are so comfy to sit in!! Two down, four to go. Gotta love removing staples!!

GT Ottoman - My Very Own 'Stang!

Do you think I might have taken my GT-Stripe obsession phase a little too far?



Yep, it's pretty much the same color as the mustang in Tokyo Drift! My wheels are a little smaller though and there's not much under the hood!!

I love ottomans, all shapes and sizes! You can use them as seating, lie on them or use as a coffee table. They can be mobile like the one above or just on cute little legs. The possibilities are endless!!

We need a coffee table so, being the incessant DIYers we are, Tony and I decided we could make one ourselves: He builds the frame and I design and upholster it. This one was not the original design but it took over the initial project because of my rampant Fast & Furious 'thing' current design style! We have another one underway that's quite different than this and next, I'd really like to make a round one!

Tony does like a challenge!!

So many more projects to come and idea's a-plenty rolling around in this head of mine! Stay tuned!
